“Poe, Manchester Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012 Mendocino 17 Drink 2013-2017
Lying at 600 m (120 m above the fog line) above the Anderson Valley to the south. Mostly decomposed sandstone. Clones 115, 114 and 777. Harvested overnight. One ton of whole cluster with 4 tons of de-stemmed fruit on top, tank gassed with CO2 until native fermentation took hold a few days later. Punched down once a day with no temperature control (reaching 83 Fahrenheit). Lightly pressed after two weeks into French oak (20% new). Aged on lees for eight months.
Mid cherry red. Very zesty nose with lovely energy. Nothing remotely heavy or syrupy about this! Beautifully balanced and florally attractive. Featherlight in the raciest possible way. As a taste sensation, just lovely. Pure pleasure. 13.8%”
