Pierre-Jean Calmels, blacksmith in the village of Laguiole, conceived the first Laguiole knife in 1829. His concept of the knife became the pattern for this style, with the forged “bee” symbol emerging as a distinctive trademark. Laguiole is the name of a small village in the Aveyron region of France which shares its name with a traditional style of knife. We offer Modus inscribed corkscrews adorned in a wooden Modus logo box for $45, or as a welcome gift when signing up for our wine club.
